Leicester City signing Daniel Amartey completed 90 minutes for the Club’s Development Squad in their Barclays U21 Premier League fixture at Reading on Monday afternoon.

Ghana international Amartey joined the Foxes last month from FC Copenhagen having not played since 6 December, before the Supaliga’s winter break.

Development Squad manager Steve Beaglehole said of the defender’s performance: “While it was a difficult game for him, not knowing too many of the lads yet and it being in difficult conditions, he looked very comfortable.

“He looks like he will be a very good addition to the first team squad I’m sure. I saw a lot of positives from his performance, as did the manager, Claudio Ranieri, who came down to watch him and sat on the bench, which was of course great for our young lads to experience too.”

Also involved was young Danish shot-stopper Daniel Iversen, who too completed 90 minutes on his first appearance for Beaglehole’s outfit.

“It was a very good debut for young Daniel,” added Beaglehole. “There were plenty of positives from his performance.

“He did very well considering the windy conditions. They had a lot of corners and free kicks and he made one outstanding save, so he looks promising.”
