Akwasi Appiah to visit Gyan and Boateng

Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah leaves Accra on Friday night to Dubai and then Milan in a fresh attempt to secure the return of Asamoah Gyan and Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Appiah who was appointed Black Stars coach last month will also visit skipper John Mensah and Andre Ayew in France to check on their injury states before returning to Ghana.

The former Asante Kotoko captain aims to have the best players available for selection ahead of Ghana’s opening game of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on June 1 against Lesotho in Kumasi.

He has thus received the full backing of the Ghana FA to pursue the agenda of returning Asamoah Gyan who has taken a temporary leave from the Black Stars after the 2012 Nations Cup and Kevin-Prince Boateng who announced his premature international retirement last year.

“As I speak to you, Mr. Kwasi Appiah will leave Accra tonight for Dubai where we have sent him to see Asamoah Gyan over finalizing his return to the Black Stars,” Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi confirmed to Kumasi-based Fox FM.

He will then travel to Milan to meet with Kevin-Prince Boateng to also discuss his return. He (Appiah) and I had already been to Milan to see Boateng so this is a follow up.

“From there he will visit Dede Ayew and John Mensah to access their injury situations before presenting a report to us on his return.”
