Akunnor allowed to miss Ghana's World Cup qualifier

Charles Akonnor will be available for his German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg after the Ghanaian football body allowed him to stay away from Sunday's World Cup qualifier with Nigeria.

Wolfsburg officials said Wednesday that Akonnor would be in the squad for Saturday's game with Unterhaching.

Ghana's World Cup qualifier for the 2002 event with Nigeria is Sunday in Accra.
