Ahmed Toure wins day for Kotoko

Kumasi, April 11, GNA - Two beautiful goals in the second half were enough to catapult Kumasi Asante Kotoko to a well-deserved 2-1 victory over city rivals King Faisal FC in their local derby of the Glo Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday night.

The match which lived up to its billing as the top liner for the week, saw the two teams in uncompromising positions but it was Kotoko who had the better exchanges in the first half who should have sealed the game but for poor shooting upfront that denied them from taking the lead.

Edward Affum, Ahmed Toure and Prince Anokye all missed some glorious chances in the 17th, 18th and 40 the minutes, respectively to end the first half barren.

In the second half, substitute Nathaniel Asamoah who came on for Frank Boateng drew first blood for Kotoko in the 78th minute but Faisal quickly cancelled the deficit four minutes later courtesy Baffoe Asuandzie who took advantage of a defensive blunder to blast home a thunderbolt of a shot much to the admiration of their vociferous supporters.

The match which looked like heading for a draw saw Toure stunning the Faisal team with a beautiful goal in the 83rd minute when he took on about three defenders in a solo effort before unleashing a pile driver that zoomed straight into the roof of the post for the match winner.
