African Nations Cup finals date fixed

JOHANNESBURG, April 20 - The next African Nations Cup finals will be played in Ghana from Jan. 20 to Feb. 10 2008, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced in Cairo on Thursday.

Ghana will use venues in Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale.

CAF also fixed dates for next year's two youth championships.

The under-20 event will be held in Congo from Jan. 20 to Feb. 4 2007 with the top four finishers going on to the World Youth Championship in Canada later in the year.

The African under-17 championships will be held in Togo from March 10 to 24, CAF's executive committee decided.

Next month CAF are to review the candidates for hosting the 2010 African Nations Cup and whittle down the list to a final four or five, officials said.

The host will be decided in September.
