African Echo & NPP Wishes Stars Well

On the eve of the Black Stars World Cup qualifying match against their Ugandan counterparts on Sunday the Management of AFRICAN ECHO, an African community weekly newspaper owned and managed by Ghanaians with its headquarters in London, has sent a goodwill message to the team, wishing them victory.

In a statement issued in London and jointly signed by the Editors, Mr. Daniel Owusu Frimpong and Nana Sifa Twum, this afternoon in London, the management noted that the Stars have never come so close to the world cup qualification series for a longer period of time and their own enviable achievement this time, must be a booster to propel them into Germany 2006.

The statement said the Stars have always been striving honours for the nation without much success at the global level and observed that this is actually a magical moment when all soccer fans especially Ghanaians including the players have to realise the long awaited ambition for Ghana to participate in the Word Cup.

The Management recalled the massive support it amassed for the Stars during their friendly encounter with their Senegalese counterparts and pledged similar one when the country qualifies for the world?s most glamorous soccer event next year.

It called on the players not to be complacent but rather go all out to win the two remaining matches. ?What is impossible to achieve is not winning over Uganda and Cape Verde?. The statement added.

In another development, the UK and Ireland Branch of the New Patriotic Party has also sent a goodwill message to the Stars.

A statement signed by the First Vice Chairman of the branch, Mr. Dramani Adamu noted that the determination of the boys to win Sunday?s match is evidently clear by the current team spirit coupled with highly skilled individual players.
