Adriano Out Of Brazil Squad To Face Ghana

Barcelona full-back Adriano will miss out on his country's clash with Ghana, after failing to recover from injury in time to be considered for the friendly encounter.

The official CBF website confirmed on Monday that the 26-year-old, capped 10 times by the Selecao, was struck down with a thigh strain and will not take part in the game to be played in London's Craven Cottage ground, home of Fulham.

Coach Mano Menezes declined the opportunity to call up a replacement, meaning that the squad will contain just three widemen. Adriano's Barcelona team-mate Dani Alves, Real Madrid's Marcelo and Danilo of Santos will contest the two available places.

The Brazilian side's European-based contingent will meet up with the trainer on Wednesday to begin training for the September 5 clash, while the locally-based players - who include Santos stars Ganso and Neymar, and Sao Paulo prodigy Lucas Moura - will join up with the rest of the squad on Thursday evening.
