Acheampong talks up Chelsea resurgence

This week’s Glo Premier League has three top liners in terms of significance and in Berekum, AshGold play in one of those. Chelsea host them on Sunday at 3pm.

Yaw Acheampong says he is aware of the threat a reforming Chelsea pose to his side, especially the verve new man Hans van der Pluym has brought into the side. “Chelsea are not the same side we saw just a few weeks ago. Since van der Pluym came around they have been playing with a new spirit.”

The Dutchman is yet to lose a game since taking over four games ago, but he has denied reports that his stay with the Blues is contingent on a five-game probation. AshGold themselves are yet to win against Berekum Chelsea in an away match since the champions were promoted into the league.

AshGold have also won just two of their last five games, drawing two on the trot and losing once.

“Champions”

Yaw Acheampong is also giving Chelsea respect as title holders, believing his club’s own form is not much to write about either. “They are champions and we need to know that they have a lot of quality. My boys are not being complacent because we won at Tema Youth because our place on the table is not great.”

The former national team player sees his side eleventh on the table, a far cry from their bounding top four place by the same time last season. Chelsea are even more of a threat because they are second on the log and are pushing to top the table should results elsewhere favour them.
