Abu, Ben Mensah & Atiku earn late Ghana call-ups

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has handed late call ups to two teenagers Mohammed Abu and Watford player Ben Mensah for Tuesday’s friendly against Nigeria

Abu, 19, who is on loan at Norwegian side Stromsgodset, will step in for Udinese midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah who has been ruled out of the tie due to injury.

He arrived in London on Monday evening and has joined the Black Stars camp.

Abu recently earned massive praise from Atletico Madrid coach during the Uefa Europa League qualifying round.

Mensah, who turns 17 in December, signed a three year professional contract with the Vicarage Road outfit last month.

Ghana are without captain John Mensah, Daniel Opare and Kwadwo Asamoah for the match against rivals the Super Eagles.

Atiku receives Ghana call

IBRAHIM Atiku has earned a call-up to the Ghana national team for tomorrow's friendly against Nigeria, the Advertiser understands.

The Swindon midfielder, who previously played for the national team at youth level, has been granted permission by Town boss Paolo Di Canio to miss the Carling Cup clash with Bristol City.

Atiku has tonight traveled to London to join the rest of the squad in preparation for the all-African clash at Watford's Vicarage Road stadium.
