Abedi seeks top spot

Former African Footballer of the Year Abedi Pele Ayew is seeking election to Caf's executive committee at January's congress in Tunis. Pele, who is the vice-chairman of the Ghana Football Association, will be vying for one of the spots reserved for the west African region with Nigeria's Amos Adamu.

Adamu, who is the executive director of the organising committee for the All Africa Games that recently took place in the Nigerian capital Abuja, has been on Caf's executive committee since 2002.

Meanwhile, Caf's football committee will travel round the continent next year to inspect the state of football facilities.

The exercise is planned to provide Caf with sufficient information that will be used to improve neglected infrastructure, as well as recommend measures that will enhance the safety of players.

Former Nigeria captain Segun Odegbami and Senegal's Jules Bocande are among the members of the committee.
