Ghana legend Abedi Ayew Pele says he has given up on his bid to become president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Abedi, a three-time African Player of the Year and former Ghana captain, was also vice president of the Ghana Football Association in the early 2000s and had haboured ambitions of running for the top job at some point.

But he says it is not a job he is interested in again.

“Not at all. It’s something that when you are young, you have certain dreams but as you grow and achieve other things in your life, you realize that it’s not your field at all,” he told Starr FM.

Abedi, who owns Nania FC, has spent recent years increasingly involved in the careers of his two sons, Jordan and Andre Ayew, both of whom are in English Premier League clubs.
