ASASS wins Invisible FM inter-schools football gala

Kumasi, Nov 16, GNA - Asanteman Secondary School (ASASS) on Saturday beat Kumasi Secondary/Technical School (KSTS) 4-3 on penalties after drawing nil-nil at full time to win the Invisible FM, a private radio station in Kumasi's inter-schools gala competition for second-cycle schools.

They were presented with a trophy and souvenirs donated by the Invisible FM and Cowbell, organisers and sponsors of the competition.

Asanteman will therefore represent Ashanti at the champion of champions stage to be staged in Kumasi next year.

In all, 22 second-cycle schools in the Ashanti Region took part in the gala and each participating school was presented with Cowbell souvenirs and certificates.

Opoku Agyemang and Edwin Osei of KSTS and Henry Tingah of Obuasi Secondary/Technical School emerged the goal king, best player and best goalkeeper respectively, while Obuasi Sec/Tech was voted the best-behaved team.

Speaking to GNA Sports, Mr William K. Wiaffe, Chief Executive Officer Invisible FM, said the competition, which was his brainchild, was initiated to promote discipline among students through sports and also to help the youth to refrain from promiscuous lives so as not to contract HIV/AIDS.

He said the nation cannot afford to lose her future leaders through the pandemic. There was therefore the need to inculcate discipline into the youth through sports.

The next competition will be held in Sunyani for second-cycle schools in Brong-Ahafo Region.
