AIK Solna confirms interest in Joseph Baffo

Swedish Allsvenskan giants AIK Solna have confirmed their interest in signing Ghanaian-born defender Joseph Baffo who is set to be out of contract at Halmstad BK.

The 22-year-old central defender has reportedly travelled to Germany to hold talks with Bundesliga II outfit Eintracht Braunschweig.

AIK officials will hold talks with the player’s agent, who has confirmed he will leave Halmstad BK to join a new club in mainland Europe for the upcoming season.

Baffo, born in Accra, but has represented Sweden at various youth levels including a successful tournament with the U21 Euro Championship which saw him win the trophy in Czech Republic.

Greek giants Olympiakos, FC Sion and newly-promoted English Premier League side Norwich City are all reportedly interested in signing the former Helsingborg IF defender.

While AIK are hoping to open talks with his agents if a deal is not finalise with Braunschweig, FC Sion are also holding their interest in the defender.
