729 cards shown in the season

Available data gathered from the secretariat of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) shows that a total of seven hundred and twenty nine cards were shown in the 2001 Star Premier League and the FA cup competitions.

The data gathered by GNA sports indicate that six hundred and eighty nine yellow cards and forty red cards were shown in both the league and the knockout competitions.

In the Star Premier league, a total of six hundred and eighty four cards were shown, and these include six hundred and forty seven yellow cards and thirty-seven red cards, while the knockout recorded forty-five bookings, which included forty yellow cards and three red cards.

Suhum Maxbees received the highest number of cards with a total of sixty-one which comprised sixty yellow cards and one red card in both the league and the knockout competitions.

A break down of the cautions and expulsions show that Maxbees had fifty-nine yellow cards in the premiership while they received one red and a yellow card during the knockout competition.

King Faisal who were the best behaved club in terms of the number of bookings recorded during the season got thirty-two cards, made up of thirty yellow cards and two red cards. Twenty-seven of their cautions and two expulsions occurred during the league while they had only three yellow cards in the knockout in which they played the grand finale.

Three players scored a total of five hat tricks in the league. Ishmael Addo of Accra Hearts of Oak registered his hat tricks in the 7th 15th and 25th weeks against Okwawu, Maxbees and Adansiman respectively while Emmanuel Donkor also of Accra Hearts of Oak scored a hat trick in the first week against liberty Professionals.

Ablade Morgan of Liberty professionals also scored a hat trick against Adansiman in their 21st league match.
