?1bn bus for Hearts

Champion Club Accra Hearts of Oak will benefit from a transport facility worth ?1 billion to help ease the transportation worries of the club in the future.

The brand-new 60-seater bus, furnished with an air-conditioner, television and video plus toilet facilities, will be purchased within the next six months from accumulated funds of a sponsorship package.

The Managing Director of Paramount Distilleries Ltd, Mr Wiafe Preprah, brewers of several alcoholic drinks on the local market, disclosed this at the launch of two new products of the company bearing the logo of Hearts. The products are Phobia Power Gin Bitters and Phobia Dry Gin. The package will last for five years with the possibility of a renewal after the period.

The deal, brokered between the National Chapters Committee of the club with support from the Publicity and Marketing Committee of the club on one hand and the company on the other, will see Hearts making five per cent of every quantity of the drink consumed.

It is from the funds to be generated by the consumption of the drinks, christened 'Kofi Nsiah,' that the ultra modern bus will be acquired for Hearts.

Beside these, Paramount Distilleries will launch a non-alcoholic drink early next year also with inscriptions of Hearts to generate further funds for the club towards its participation in the continental series next year.

Mr Wiafe Peprah presented a cheque for ?20m to the team for winning the league six times in a row Mr Thomas Okine, Chief Executive of Hearts, thanked the management of Paramount Distilleries for their kind gesture and called on supporters of the club to contribute towards the club's activities to enable the team to achieve more laurels.

Mr Amishadai Ofori, Brands Manager of the company, assisted by officials of Hearts launched the products.
