No September Salary For Armed Forces

The Ghana Armed Forces is yet to recieve the September salary. Information in the barracks is that The Ministry of Defence has not paid soldiers and civilian workers their September salary, which should have been paid on the 14th-15th.

The worst of it all is that some soldiers have are on Peace keeping Operations and had left post dated cheques which has woefully bounced and the families are confused and are on borrowing spree. This is the first time in the history of the Ghana Armed Forces. Families whose husband are on operations, cannot buy the childrens school books and pay school fees.

The bounced cheques will have to be replaced as they are of no value. Some of the soldiers are serving in faraway Congo, and they have to rewrite these cheques.

The barracks is as quite as a cemetary. All you could hear from families of soldiers is that ' They say there is no money" Hmmmmmmn!
