Lord Kenya....Dead?

Speculations are rife in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi that one of Ghana’s greatest hiplife artistes, Lord Kenya is dead. The speculations are not only in Kumasi but also on facebook.

However, News-One can confirm that Lord Kenya is alive and kicking. This is not the first time the death of Lord Kenya is being speculated. In an interview with News-One, Lord Kenya said, “I am alive, healthy and propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I have so far visited Sunyani Polytechnic, Takoradi Polytechnic and other Senior High Schools in the Ashanti Region. I will be visiting schools across the length and breadth of the country.” Lord Kenya became born-again last year, when on his way to buy ‘wee’, he was struck down by the Holy Ghost and dragged to Christian Eoanerges Gospel Ministry in his area where he stays. He was prayed for and he still worships there.

Lord Kenya told News-One that he is currently putting final touches to his 12-track album recorded by the great Zapp Mallet. He was born Abraham Philip Akpor Kojo Kenya to an Nzema father from Senzire in the Western Region and an Asante mother from Fumesua on September 19, 1978 in Kumasi.

He was the winner of the Hiplife Album of the Year at the Ghana Music Award (GMA) 2001, and Best Ghanaian Rap Music Award at the Anansekrom Festival in Canada 2000. Kenya joined Slip Music owned by Mark Okraku Mantey and released his debut album ‘Sika’, which instantly became one of the nation’s hits.

Other hits released by Lord Kenya include ‘Yeesom Sika’ and ‘Born Again.’ His fame actually spread like wildfire when he featured on Daasebre Gyamenah’s title track ‘Kokooko’.
