Let's go back to the original purpose of our call-Rev Steve Mensah

Reverend Steve Mensah, General Overseer of the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM), has called on ministers of God to get rid of things that undermine the original purpose of their calling into ministry which was to serve.

“Our motives for entering into ministry is wrong, let us come back to the original purpose for which we were called, we have lost the service aspect of our call into the kingdom, we are to serve people, not to be served”, he said.

Rev. Mensah made the call at the induction ceremony of Bishop Prince Emmanuel Tetteh of Kairos Chapel International over the weekend in Accra.

He said the crave for power, fame and riches which had pushed many people into the ministry, coupled with the human doctrines introduced into the church today had prevented God from giving the grace needed to expand His Kingdom.

According to him, until ministers of the gospel recognized their positions as servants just like Jesus Christ, the essence of their call would be lost.

He bemoaned the rate at which kingdom minded activities like evangelism, visitations, healing the sick among others were relegated to the background, whiles some men of God adopted manipulative ways to instill fear among the congregation to make money.

Rev. Mensah stated that Jesus Christ used the anointing that was upon him to serve, as he went about preaching the gospel, healing the sick and the oppressed and doing good to the poor; adding that, Christ’s example was lost in the church of today as people now had to pay money to be prayed for.

He noted that positions and titles are cherished more in the body of Christ, adding “people now have to book appointments and go through unnecessary protocol before they have access to a man of God, we are losing the essence of our call. We have not been thought to lord over people, but to serve, so let us go back to our original calling”.**
