The church should give hope to the people

The church has been urged to provide the needed leadership to help people overcome selfishness and give hope to society.

The Asante-Akyem Presbytery Chairman of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), Reverend Kwaku Twum-Barimah, said the situation where “self-serving interest is put ahead of the collective good of the society” was unhealthy.

“We have to change this dangerous directional course” and this must be led by Christians, he added.

He was speaking at an induction service held for the newly elected National President of the Presbyterian Singing Band Union, Nana Ofori Amanfo Diatuo, at Bompata in the Asante-Akim South District.

He is the first elected president of the union from the Northern Sector of the country in 58 years.

The event brought together representatives of the various groups in the church from 16 out of the 17 presbyteries across the nation.

The Rev. Twum-Barimah reminded Christians to let their faith reflect in the way they did things and conducted themselves, saying they should become a good example of everything that is noble, dignifying and admirable.

He congratulated the new President on his election and praised his significant contribution to the growth of the church.

Nana Amanfo pledged he would not disappoint.
