Dr Lawrence Tetteh Ministries to pray for peaceful elections

Dr Lawrence Tetteh, a UK-based Ghanaian Evangelist on Thursday asked the nation’s political leaders to back their verbal commitment to peaceful General Election on December 7 with concrete acts.

“Mere lip service to electoral peace will not be transformed into national peace, unity and stability,” he told the Ghana News Agency in an interview ahead of a three-day crusade the Worldwide Miracle Outreach is organising in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region, to pray for peaceful elections on December 7.

The crusade, which will take place at Sunyani Jubilee Park from May 23- May 25 is on the theme: “Sunyani for Christ Crusade: Let God arise.”

It will be addressed by Dr Tetteh, who is the Founder and President of the church as well as Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong Manso past Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and Reverend Paul Naughton of Benny Hinn Ministries, among others.

Dr. Tetteh said it behooves on politicians and other stakeholders in the December polls to back their quest for incident- free elections with deeds.

“Every Ghanaian must be an ambassador of peace,” he stressed.

The International Evangelist said the onus for peace before, during and after the Presidential and Parliamentary elections rests on the religious leaders who must prayerfully seek the face of God to make the feat possible.

Dr Tetteh said the media as the Fourth Realm of the Estate should not give space to politicians who use abusive and divisive language, adding that there is empirical evidence that “bad press leads to conflicts, mayhem and underdevelopment”.

“The effect of war is all over the globe, name it; Rwanda, Burundi, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast and Bosnia.”

“Through the prayers of the faithful, Christ will surely be in control of Ghana, “he said.

Dr Tetteh said Sunyani was chosen because it had been the hotbed for political activities, including the delegates’ conference of the ruling National Democratic Congress.

“The nation must not only use Sunyani as a political platform but also as a spiritual platform to bring blessings to Ghana.”

He expressed the hope that the crusade would be one of the biggest gathering of Christians in the regional capital since more than 70 per cent of the local churches will be involved.

“The event will be one of the biggest miracle explosion in Ghana,” he said.**
