National Chief Imam honours Ameer Mudashiru Bulala of Nigeria

Sheikh (Dr) Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam of Ghana at the weekend honoured Ameer Mudashiru Shitu Bulala, an eminent Islamic scholar in Nigeria for his contribution towards the promotion of Islam in Africa and the World at large.

Sheik Sharubutu appealed to Muslim Scholars to project and promote Islam in their various fields of studies and serve as role models to the younger Muslim generation.

He said to project and promote Islam as a Muslim scholar there was the need to appreciate that the Muslim religion needed some emergency branding work to re-assert itself .

Sheikh Sharubutu was addressing a cross-section of the Ghanaian Muslim community at a ceremony he organized in honour of Ameer Mudashiru Shitu Bulala, who is currently on a visit to Ghana.

He said numerous initiatives by Ameer Mudashiru to promote inter-religious and cultural dialogue and exchanges to foster collaboration between Ghanaian and Nigerian Muslims were widely respected and appreciated by the Ghanaian Muslim community.

Sheik Sharubutu noted that Ghana and Nigeria had a common history, often marked by love and understanding and recognized as "worshippers of Allah, supporters of all that is true and good, and ever mindful of the common origin and dignity of all human persons who remain at the apex of Allah’s creative design for the World and for history".

He added that such initiative clearly leads to greater reciprocal knowledge and fosters a growing respect both for what Muslims hold in common and for what they understood differently.

“What we are doing today is not about the award but is a gathering that upholds and strengthens the brotherly bondage of Islam and the Tijaniya brotherhood between our two nations and the world,” Ameer Mudasiru said in his address.

He said Sheikh Sharubutu was among the few remaining flag-bearers of Gaosu Samani, Sheikh Islam Ibrahim Niass (RTA) that carry the burden of spiritual training and guidance of their people according to the way forward by the Sheriff, the son of Sheikh Hassan (RTA).

Ameer Mudashiru added that all love for the brotherhood in the Tijaniya and brotherhood of Islam derived such benefits from the great Sheikh, adding it is “A benefit that is both special and universal and lasting till eternity.”

Ameer Mudashiru expressesed appreciation to Sheikh Sharubutu for honouring him and called on Ghanaian Muslims to rally behind the Chief Imam to promote Islam to the highest.
