Churches must be agents of transformation

Ejura (Ash), Aug. 29, GNA - Churches have been called upon to serve as agents of transformation in this corrupt and 93dying society." Reverend David Nartey Ocansey, General Secretary of the Ghana Baptist Convention, said church revivals should be used to effectively bring change to the society.

He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 48th Annual Session of the Ghana Baptist Convention at the Baptist Women Retreat Centre at Ejura. The event coincided with the ordination of 61 new ministers of the church.

The theme 93Harvest time today: In step with the spirit." Rev Ocansey said it was worrying that in spite of the increasing numbers of churches, evil deeds keep rising, even among Christians. He cited cyber fraud, same sex marriages and prostitution among others= , and said these were issues that Ministers of God should be addressing. He asked the clergy and churches to give good counselling to their members and assist them find solutions to their problems, so that they woul= d not fall prey to charlatans and false prophets for help. He asked the people not to be deceived and swayed by miracles performe= d by the false prophets.

Rev Ocansey advised his colleague pastors to be humble and refuse to become materialistic.
