Tudu branch of Ridge Church marks fifth anniversary

Accra, Dec 16, GNA - Christians have been urged to make evangelism their main concern so that those who have not regarded Jesus as their Lord and saviour could know him and become part of the Church. The Reverend Kwabena Aboagye, Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Ridge in Accra, made the call in a sermon at a thanksgiving service to mark the fifth anniversary of the Tudu Branch of the Church on Sunday.

He was preaching on "Time to seek and save the lost" as part of the activities marking the anniversary that was on the theme "Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee." Before the service members of the Church went on a procession amidst brass band music through the principle streets of Tudu in the Central Business District of Accra.

The Chairman of the group, Mr Daniel Budu, told Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the branch, which was started with ten members now had a congregation of about 200.

He said the decision to open the branch was due to the successful evangelism of members of the Ridge Church in the Tudu area. Mr Budu said the interdenominational branch was started because there was no Church in the Tudu area.

He said the Public Works Department was approached for a temporary place of worship in the yard of the organization and stated that there were plans for a permanent Church building in the area. Mr Budu, who is also a newspaper vendor at Tudu, said apart from Sunday services, prayer sessions and Bible Studies were organized on Wednesdays and Saturdays respectively and appealed to Christians in the Tudu area to take advantage of the programme and worship there. Members of the Women's Fellowship and the Youth wing took turns to entertain the congregation as part of the celebration.
