Woman wins Best National Methodist Church of Ghana Evangelist Award

Takoradi, Dec. 03, GNA -- Mrs Veronica Anzah-Cobbinah 51, teacher and an Evangelist has been adjudged the Best National Evangelist of the Methodist Church of Ghana for 2005.

Evangelist Anzah-Cobbinah, the first to receive the award was presented with a citation, Holy Bible and cash at a thanksgiving service at the Bethel Methodist Church in Takoradi on Sunday. Delivering the sermon, Very Reverend John Harvey-Ewusi, Methodist Bishop of Sekondi Diocese called on churches to assist evangelists to win more souls for Jesus Christ.

He said evangelists convert and hand over all their new converts to existing churches.

Bishop Harvey-Ewusi said Christians must serve as inspiration and source of hope for the world but should not allow fear; uncertainty and hopelessness dominate their lives.

He pointed out that the award won by Evangelist Anzah-Cobbinah should inspire more women to evangelise and aspire to achieve the best in their endeavours and commended her for the honour to the diocese. Receiving the award Evangelist Anzah-Cobbinah expressed appreciation to God for the honour and the opportunity to serve society. She said the award was dedicated to all Christian women working throughout the country to spread the good news.

Evangelist Anzah-Cobbinah was born on March 6, 1955 and commissioned as an Evangelist of the church in 1994. She is a trained teacher in-charge of Girl-child Education in Mporhor Wassa East District and Western Regional Treasurer of Ghana Education Service (GES).

Evangelist Anzah-Cobbinah is a Bible Class leader and local Preacher married with three children. 03 Dec. 06
