Western Region to host Catholic Bishop Conference

Takoradi, Nov. 12, GNA — The Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi will host this year’s plenary Assembly of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference slated for November 2nd to 10th, this year, to discuss matters of good governance.

The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference is the central body of the Catholic Church in Ghana that meet annually to deliberate on matters of concern to the church and encourage activities in accordance with the needs of the time.

The eight-day conference is under the theme: ”Good Governance for Peace”.

The Conference will attract high profile personalities from sections of society, including traditional rulers, government officials, catholic faithful and heads of religious bodies.

It is also intended to discuss issues that would promote unity within the College of Bishops and together work towards the promotion of growth of the Church as well as promote peace and unity in the entire country.

All the Catholic bishops in the country are automatic members of the Conference, which has a President and a Vice President.

The Sekondi-Takoradi Catholic Diocesan Bishop, Most Reverend Martin Darko would host this year’s Conference in the twin-city.
