Tema Methodist Diocese holds 14th synod

Ashaiman, May 6, GNA - The 14th Synod of the Tema Diocese of the Methodist Church opened at St Peter's Methodist in Ashaiman with a call on pastors to teach doctrines that would make members hold on to their faith. Right Reverend Winfred Habel Yao Ametefe, Bishop of the Tema Diocese of the Church, who made the call, however urged religious leaders to sanctify themselves for the Lord to use them to deliver the people, set captives free, open prison gates and give real meaning to lives. The five-day synod, which began on Wednesday, has the theme; "Consecrate Yourselves, for Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Amazing Things Among You." Bishop Ametefe stressed the need for pastors to devote themselves to God by cleansing themselves from the filth of the flesh. He assured members of the church that God would perform wonders in their lives provided they were righteous. Bishop Ametefe urged parents and teachers to remain committed to the education of children, the future leaders of the nation. The Tema Methodist bishop was optimistic that projects initiated by the various dioceses years ago would be completed and commissioned during next year's conference. The synod received fraternal greetings from Rt Rev Dr Kwaku Asamoah-Okyere, Administrative Bishop of the Methodist Church and Numo Adinortey Addison, Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive who were among dignitaries that graced the occasion. 6 May 11
