Koforidua, Oct. 16, GNA - Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church, has inaugurated 12 catechists as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Diocese, at the Koforidua Saint Peter’s Anglican Cathedral.

The catechists, who underwent two years training at the Diocesan Ministerial Education Centre at Koforidua, included two women, Ms Lydia Ayaw Abena Ayisi, member of the Church at Nsawam and Ms Faustina Gyammea Sarpong, member of the Church at Akim Oda.

Others were Mr William Asiedu Afari and Armstrong Tettey Nyampong, members of the Church at Suhum, Mr Richard Evans Amuzu, Prince Edward Ntow and Mr Emmanuel Ephson Dompreh, members of the Church at Nsawam, Mr Kenneth Kwame Asare, member of the Church at Akim Oda, Mr Brandford Seth Kwame Hienno, member of the Church at Anum, Mr Johnson Obiri Sackey, member of the Church at Boso, Mr Nicholas William Tetteh and Michael Tettey Weledji, members of the Church at Nuaso.

This brings to 47 the number of catechists trained by the Diocese since 2006.

The Director of the Centre, Venerable Felix Annancy, said there was the need to train Christains, who support the clergy in the propagation of the gospel.

Right Reverend Francis Benjamin Quashie inaugurated the catechists and celebrated the mass for the occasion.

The Very Rev. Father Joseph Sam Binney, Dean Emeritus of the Church, in a sermon called on the newly inaugurated catechists to respect and support their parish priests towards the growth of the Church.

He said: “the work of God involves sacrifices and dedication”, and asked members of the Church to support the catechists.
