Peace in Ghana depends on Christians

Ho, Dec 18, GNA - Reverend George H.K. Abutiate, Head Pastor of the Ho-Kpodzi Evangelical Presbyterian Church at the weekend reminded Christians that they hold the key to peace and stability in Ghana in the 2012 General Election.

They should therefore demonstrate the Christmas message of “peace and goodwill” in the conduct of their political affairs during the election.

He said due to the number of Christians as well as their overwhelming influence in the conduct of national affairs at all levels, they owe it to God and country to hold the nation together.

Reverend Abutiate gave the exhortation in a sermon at the celebration of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols organised by the Volta Region branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT).

He said the message and meaning of Christmas was meant to reflect in the way people relate with others in the conduct of their affairs throughout the year and not just the yuletide.

In a message read on her behalf; Mrs Irene Duncan-Adanusa, General Secretary of GNAT said the Christmas message “is still very relevant to the world, especially in the times of global financial uncertainty, religious strife and political upheavals”.

Mawuli Peace Choir of Mawuli School; Ho, and Saint Ann’s Youth Choir of the Sacred Heart Cathedral of Ho thrilled the guests to renditions of melodious carols and dancing.
