Let Christ's death be meaningful to all - Christians advised

Reverend Joyman Borketey, Minister, Resurrection Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Makola, has appealed to Christians to bring meaning to the suffering of Christ by living exemplary lifestyles.

He said the significance of Easter brought hope to the hopeless and total transformation to mankind, which Christians must demonstrate in the lives of others.

Addressing the congregation on Good Friday, Rev Borketey added, the death of Christ affected both things on earth and in heaven, adding that it touched on the relationship between mankind and God and between fellow humans.

In addition, he said, the death shook the spiritual world and subjected the forces of evil into submission and brought order into a world devastated by sin and disorderliness.

Rev Borketey, who preached under the theme: “The Suffering Christ”, said His (Christ) dead took away our infirmities, sorrows, transgressions and paid for our peace, healing and riches.

He said God had made a covenant of peace with us through the death of Christ and urged Christians to approach Him (Christ) with all confidence and sincerity for the remission of sins and the provision of our needs.

Rev Borketey encouraged Christians to hold on to the faith we have in Christ without wavering and also encourage one another into doing the will of God.

He said the rejection, humiliation, and finally the death of Christ depicted God’s readiness to grant us anything we might request for and called on Christians to take advantage of it by going to Him in times of difficulties.

Rev Borketey said Christians should let this Easter celebration be a mark of peace and called for unity among all Ghanaians despite our political, religious or ethnic background.

He urged politicians to always seek the face of God in all things and urged the nation to pray always for our political leaders, especially in their decision making.
