Invest "Oil Money" Into Other Sectors Of The Economy

Moderator of the Presbyterian church of Ghana Rt. Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Martey has challenged government to invest the money from the oil in other sectors of the economy in other for ghanaians to benefit from the oil proceeds. According to him, the monies could be channeled to improve the quality of education, health as well as constructing good roads in the country to make life comfortable to all.

Rt. Rev. Prof. Martey disclosed this at a sermon to climax the 75th anniversary of the Bethel congregation of the presbyterian church at Akyem New-Tafo in the Abuakwa north constituency of the eastern region. He challenged leaders to always to be prepared to serve with humility as they are been paid to do. He however urged those in authority and workers in general to desist from expecting higher salaries eventhough their output is poor.

"Our leaders and politicians needs to work hard and desist from always asking for higher salaries despite their low output at their work places" the Moderator emphasised. He was optimistic that, the country will be a better place for all if each and everyone performs their duty well as good and dedicated citizens of the country.
Rt. Rev. Prof. Martey also urged church leaders and churches in general to see to the welfare of all members at all times. He urged them to assist poor and needy members in order to encourage them in their service to God. " It is so sad to know that some members of churches even finds it difficult to eat despite their commitment to serve" he added. He however, advised church leaders to desist from mismanaging and squandling monies for the church but rather invest in ventures that could benefit all members especially the needy.
He also challenged christians to be always prepared for the second coming of Jesus Christ since nobody knows when the endtime will come. He commended the leaders of Bethel congregation for their hardwork over the years and urged them to win more souls for the Lord.
The member of parliament for Abuakwa north constituency, Hon. Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu who was guest of honour appealed to the church to strengthen their support to education as it is the only legacy to children and however called on all churches to support the education of children in their various churches.
He therefore set up an educational support fund with the seed capital of 100,000 cedis to support the education of orphans within the Abuakwa north constituency.
The church however, used the anniversary to re-dedicate an ultra-modern refurbished church building to the Lord.
