Ghanaians Urged to Pray to God for Good leaders - Very Rev. Abassah

Bolgatanga, Dec. 25, GNA- Very Reverend Peter N Abassah of the Ebenezer Church in Bolgatanga on Tuesday at sermon to celebrate this year Christmas day stressed the need for Ghanaians to pray to God for good leaders for the country during the forthcoming election. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) after the Sermon themed: "Saviour is Born" Very Reverend Abassah explained that good leaders are chosen by God and not by people and cited Jesus Christ who was chosen by God to lead Mankind.

"Ghanaians must use this festivity period to reflect properly and pray for good leadership from God to lead the country", he sad. He stated that anything should not be made to mar the peace the country was enjoying and indicated this had made Ghana the oasis of peace in West Africa.

He explained that when there was not peace it was the venerable, especially women and children who suffered the most and appealed to politicians to do their campaign devoid of vulgar language.

Bolgatanga

Delivering a sermon at the Catholic Church in the Bolgatanga Municipality, Reverend Father David Kudewura urged Christians to remain faithful in serving God just as Jesus Christ did.

He explained that despite mankind's sinfulness, God, out of love gave out his only begotten son Jesus Christ to come and die to salvage mankind.

"If you persevere and serve God faithfully despite the situation you encounter you would fully receive blessing from God," he said. At the Evangelic Presbyterian Church also in the Municipality, Ben Ashie, a Catechist of the Church, also in a sermon; " A Savior has come to Save Us," explained that if Christians listened to the Saviour they would be saved but if the refused to listen to Him they would perished. He urged parents to use the occasion for reflection and to ensure that their children were brought up properly, especially by dressing decently since Jesus Christ loved children so much. He explained that if the scriptures were used properly in the up-bringing of children the spate of vices and crimes in the country would have reduced drastically.
