Cleric speaks against fake pastors

Accra, June 20, GNA - Reverend Akwasi Owusu, General Overseer of the Believers Home Chapel, has called on the Christian Council of Ghana, to institute measures that would enable it to award certificates to graduating students of all bible colleges in the country. This, he said would help weed out fake pastors whose selfish interest was to make money and cheat innocent citizens. Rev. Owusu made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday.

He noted that if a fake policeman is arrested, he is made to face the full rigours of the law but if a fake pastor is apprehended nothing is done to him or her.

Rev. Owusu appealed to religious leaders to be up and doing and preach the gospel without adulteration for the benefit of mankind. Speaking on cyber fraud, popularly called 'sakawa', which had bedevilled the nation, Rev. Owusu blamed the trend on parents who do not take proper care of their children and asked them to stand to the test. He also asked the public to help the police to clamp down on the nefarious activities. The General Overseer appealed to the political parties to bury their differences and rally behind the government to ensure national development 20 June 09
