Church urged to assist in nation building

Jachie (Ash) Feb.18, GNA- The Very Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, head of Religious Studies Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), in Kumasi has called on the Church to ensure peace and to assist in nation building.

He said the Church should not only concern itself with the propagation of the gospel but to also assist in improving the living conditions of the people at all levels to the glory of God. The Very Rev. Professor Asante was preaching at a three-day camp meeting of the Kumasi Circuit of the Methodist Church at Jachie in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District of Ashanti, under the theme "Come unto Me All Yee Labour", at the weekend.

He expressed worry that some Christians were not submitting to the Will of God and still lived in sin and reminded Christians that Jesus Christ came to earth to save mankind.

The Very Rev. Prof. Asante expressed regret that some Christians worshipped other gods and gave the assurance that those who would confess their Sins would receive the Grace of God. He observed that self-acclaimed prophets took advantage of people who sought miracles to propagate false teachings, and cautioned such people to stop peddling religious untruth.

The Very Rev. Prof. Asante called on the Church to intensify its evangelisation mission to win more souls for Christ. 18 Feb. 07
