Church of Christ donates to four institutions

Accra, Oct. 2, GNA – The Church of Christ, Ghana (COC) at the week-end presented items to four institutions in Accra Metropolis.

The items included bags of rice, sugar, cartons of detergents, soaps, packs of toilet rolls, bags of new and used clothes, plastic chairs and mosquito nets.

The beneficiary institutions were Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Pantang Psychiatric Hospital, Dzorwulu Special School and Weija Leprosarium.

Dzorwulu Special School, and Weija Leprosarium in addition received some money.

Members of the church undertook clean-up exercise to tidy wards and premises of the institutions.

Elder Ken Fianoo, Member of COC@50 Coordinating Committee, presenting the items, said the gesture formed part of activities marking its 50th Anniversary Celebration, which would be climaxed in December.

He said COC reached out to the four institutions as part of its efforts at improving and bringing relief to the less privileged in society.

Mr Osei Owusu Bempa, Houseman Health Services Administrator of Accra Psychiatric Hospital, expressed gratitude to COC for the presentation.

He said the hospital was facing challenges, including inadequate staff and logistics and called on all and sundry to support it to deliver quality services to the inmates.

Mr Bempa appealed to other organisations to assist the hospital and to Ghanaians to support the authorities to cater for the inmates.

Authorities of Pantang Psychiatric Hospital, Dzorwulu Special School, and Weija Leprosarium thanked COC for the donation, and called on other organisations to emulate their gesture.
