Church leaders told to promote interest of the church

Kumasi, Nov 12, GNA- The Reverend Joseph Henry Ofosuhene, outgoing Minister of the Ash-Town branch of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has implored church leaders to shun personal aggrandizement in their endeavors.

He said they should instead be disciplined and work hard to promote the overall interest of the church for the growth of Christendom. Rev Ofosuhene was delivering the sermon at a farewell service held in his honour by the church in Kumasi on Sunday. The clergyman, who is also the Ashanti Regional Manager of Presbyterian Education Unit, is on an educational transfer to Accra. He expressed his worry that the priesthood institution had come under a barrage of attacks from some critics in recent times due to the unhealthy practices by some ministers of the gospel. This development, according to Rev Ofosuhene, could dent the image of Christendom and said the time has come for ministers to resolve to maintain a high moral standard in their work as prescribed by the Bible. Rev Ofosuhene thanked the Asante Presbytery of the PCG for their immense support during his four-year tenure as the minister in-charge of the Ash-Town church. Mr Edmund Premoh, Ashanti Regional Welfare Officer of the Presbyterian Education Unit, commended the outgoing minister for his commitment to duty and raising the educational standards of Presbyterian schools in the Region. Reverend Anokye Nkansah would replace Rev Ofosuhene. 12 Nov. 07
