Christians cautioned to be wary of false prophets

Akropong Akuapem, Aug,, 15, GNA - A clergyman has warned Ghanaians, especially women to be wary of people parading the country as 93Men of God."

Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, expressed worry that some people had attended Bible school for a few weeks and formed a church considering that as the only way to get money quick, He said such persons gave themselves titles including pastor, bishop, archbishop and man of God but ended engaging in dubious activities.

Rt. Rev. Prof Martey made the call at a thanksgiving service to climax a four-day Ministers' Spouses' Conference of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Akropong Akuapem on Sunday. The event, which was under the theme: 93Empowered by the Holy Spirit", was attended by more than 600 delegates.

Rt. Rev. Prof said it was unfortunate that recently the Christian community had come under serious criticism as a result of reported cases of scandals that had rocked some clergymen. He said the unbecoming behaviour of some clergymen could be attributed to the lack of proper theological training and proper understanding of 91'the call into the ministry of God.'' Rt Rev, Prof asked ministers of the gospel to seek the Kingdom of God first and preach the word of God in order to win more souls for Christ.

He commended spouses of the pastors of the church for supporting their husbands to effectively carry out their duties. The National President of the Minister's Spouses Conference, Mrs Rebecca Appiah, the group members had assisted their husbands to propagate the gospel.

She appealed to the members to pay their dues regularly to enable the Association to seek their welfare.

Mrs Appiah appealed to women not to allow themselves to be swindled by false 93men of God".
