Chief Imam rebukes Muslim youth over ‘dumsor’ protest

The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu has dissociated himself from the agitations by some youth of Fadama, a suburb of Accra, over the power crisis.

The angry youth are requesting that power providers exempt the chief Imam’s residence from the power rationing.

They have threatened mayhem if their request is not granted.

But spokesperson for the Chief Imam, Alhaji Usman Mohammed, told Starr FM although the Power situation is unbearable, the approach of the youth is unwarranted.

“The Chief Imam condemns that action of the youth, he is never in support of using violence to resolve issues.

“They came to him to seek his support to go on a demonstration and he didn't grant it.

"He would not incite people to go on a demonstration and in fact he is worried that people would think that he would want to be given special treatment in the country,” he noted.
