Catholic book on confession launched

Kumasi, June 10, GNA- A 49- page- book on confession, which is key to the seven sacraments of Catholics, has been launched at Saint Paul's Catholic Church, at Amakom in the Kumasi Metropolis. The book entitled: Confession, the Road to Freedom," was authored by Reverend Father Stephen Billson-Ogoe, Assistant Parish Priest. Highlights of the book include sin, types of sins, effect of sin and how to pray for forgiveness.

Launching the book, Mr Wereko Brobbey, former Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), said it was a material that stood the chance of renewing the spiritual life of Christians. He commended the author for the extensive research conducted before writing the book, and urged all Christians irrespective of their denominations to read it, since it is a source of strengthening their faith.

Mr Brobbey asked Ghanaians to buy and read books, which could shape their lives positively and not materials that would corrupt their morals and separate them from the love of God.

He said the current state of affairs in the world, called for Christians who would get closer to God, since the end time was near. Rev. Fr. Bill-Ogoe said he was motivated to write the book to help Christians to attain both spiritual and physical freedom on earth. He reminded Christians of the need to get closer to the Lord, at all times since they do know when they would die. Rev. Fr. Bill-Ogoe attributed the lack of breakthrough in the lives of Christians to disbelieve which blocks their chances of receiving the love of God and his mercies. Dr Kofi Afun Jakpasu, a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture at KNUST, who chaired the function, reminded Christians to be steadfast in all their endeavours and pray unceasingly to strengthen their relationship with God.
