Attach a "Man of God" to the Black Stars

Hohoe, June 24, GNA - Soccer enthusiasts in the Hohoe Municipality are advocating for the attachment of an avowed "Man of God" to the Black Stars team just as the team has a masseur, doctor and psychologist. They contend that it was becoming evident that the goal-drought of the Black Stars was a spiritual string rather than technical incompetence. They argued that on the field of play, Black Stars exhibit excellence and could outscore any opponent and that the scarcity of goals that is tormenting the team demands spiritual intervention.

A soccer enthusiast in Hohoe, Mr John Atiemo, said the inability of the team to convert the multitudes of scoring chances into goals defeats the sterling performance demonstrated and asked for divine intervention. He said Ghanaians should seek consolation in the fact that "with God all things are possible."

Other soccer fans, however, praised the team for qualifying despite succumbing to a lone goal defeat by Germany in their last group D match on Wednesday night.

They exhorted the Stars to justify the trust reposed in them by the entire continent of Africa and to upstage the United States of America on the field of play in the next encounter scheduled for Saturday. Mr Evans Agbley, a fan, observed that the Stars' performance continue to improve and the team's ability to translate chances to goals would toughen them and sustain them beyond their encounter with USA.

He said the team represented the real Black Stars of Africa as they remained the only hope of the Continent following the elimination of four other representatives, namely Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, and Algeria. Mr Agbley called for intercessory prayer for the Black Stars for divine favour and grace at the tournament. 24 June 10
