Ahmadis asked to actively participate in the country's politics

Kumasi, Aug. 23, GNA - Justice Saeed Kwaku Gyan, a Sekondi High Court Judge, has called on Ahmadiyya Muslims to participate actively in the politics of the country to make a difference in the society. He said by so doing, they would also be serving the nation and its people.

Justice Gyan was addressing the opening session of the 25th Annual National Conference of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Elders' Organization in Kumasi on Friday.

The two-day conference being attended by about 1,500 elders is under the theme "Blessings of the Institution of Khilafat (Leadership) and our Responsibilities".

Justice Gyan, also a member of the Mission, said it was his wish and hope that all Ahmadiyya Muslim politicians would appreciate and understand their role as Ahmadiyya Muslims in the discharge of their political duties.

He urged the members to avoid using vulgar and indecent language when they mounted political platforms because that would bring embarrassment and shame.

Justice Gyan called on the youth of the Mission not to allow themselves to be used or employed to perpetrate political violence against perceived enemies or opponents.

"In what ever we do or say in these crucial times of our nation's history, let us be duly mindful of the clear warning of Allah in the Quran which says those who plan evil for them is a severe punishment and the planners of such evil will perish," he said.

Maulvi Wahab Adam, Head and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, called on the members to endeavour to share their wisdom with the youth of the country and influence them positively to eschew indiscipline.

He stressed the need for them to help the youth to build a morally upright and caring society.

Maulvi Adam added his voice to the call on leaders and members of political parties in the country to ensure an election which was free from acrimony and intimation for peace to prevail before, during and after the election.

He said "we should remember the favours of Allah upon us as a people and show gratitude to Him by remaining peaceful despite formidable challenges".

Mr Abu Muhammad, President of the Organization, stressed the need for members to pray fervently for the rest of their lives and their children so that after they had left this earth, the children would remain devoted to the worship of Allah.

"By virtue of our age, we have great responsibilities as fathers, husbands, heads of families, leaders of communities in our daily lives. Islam demands that we must as fathers not falter in these capacities", he said.

Mr Muhammad said it behoved on them to exercise their franchise during the December 7 elections and that as Muslims, they had an obligation to accept whoever emerged the winner and help his government to succeed in its responsibilities.
