This year’s Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies (GHASALC) games, is scheduled for the Lizzy Sports Complex on September 12.

Sponsored by Best Point Savings and Loans, the biggest gathering of businesses and professionals in the Savings and Loans sector, has promised to be more exciting and competitive.

The event which is in its second edition would have 24 members of the association battling for the ultimate trophy and a year of bragging right.

According to organizers the annual games would also serve as a platform for networking and interaction among members of the fraternity.

General Secretary of GHASALC, Eunice Brako Marko said, “the gala last year gave our members an opportunity to share ideas on ways to expand financial service accessibility to the unbanked and those who are undeserved by commercial banks.”

On his part, Chief Executive Officer of Opportunity International Savings and Loans Limited (OISL) last year’s sponsor, Mr. Kwame Owusu-Boateng, has expressed his company’s battle readiness for the games.

“My team is well prepared and we are not giving chance to any team at all. We had so much fun last year and we anticipate a better performance as we intend to take all trophies to our Head Office” he said.

Several trophies would be at stake at this year’s event as aside football there would be other games like volleyball, sack race, scrabble, oware, 100 meter dash and Jama competitions.

The games would go through knockout phases with winners at each round progressing to the next stage of the competition.

Members are currently preparing assiduously for the event as they are keen on snatching the ultimate trophy from defending champions Global Access Savings and Loans.

The likes of First Allied Savings and Loans Company, Utrak Savings & Loans Company and Opportunity International would also be hoping to improve upon last year’s performance.
