Match Report: Aduana Stars 1-1 Hearts of Oak

Team Hearts of Oak Team Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak striker Cosmos Dauda scored his fifth goal of the campaign to ensure the Phobians picked up an important point against second place Aduana Stars.

Both teams begun the game brightly but it was the home side who showed real intent in the first minute with a long range shot to test Samuel Akurugu in post for Hearts of Oak.

The shot was well saved by the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper, this season Cosmos Dauda has been instrumental for the Phobians with his off the ball movement a real asset for the Phobians and he demonstrated that well with a well taken ball to set up Ollenu Ashitey who had a shot on target.

Experienced Aduana Stars defender Godfred Saka who had a slow start to the season clearly was up for this one and sent in a few crosses but neither Yahaya Mohammed nor Bright Adjei was able to connect in the first fifteen minutes.

With Aduana enjoying the Lion’s share of possession Godfred Saka finally earned a deserved assist after Emmanuel Akuoko met his well delivered cross to nod home and give Aduana the lead.

That goal remained the only difference between the two sides in the first half with Hearts of Oak creating only half chances in the remaining twenty minutes.

The second half saw Cosmos Dauda and Samuel Yeboah creating problems for the Aduana Stars defense but they stood their grounds and sniffed off the danger.

A golden opportunity feel for Ollenu Ashittey but hesitation on the part of the midfielder allowed Zakaria Mumuni to close him down.

The moment of truth arrived for the Phobians on the 66th minute when Cosmos Dauda who had worked really hard finished off a ball to restore parity.

Credit should be given to Samuel Yeboah who did all the hard work to ensure Cosmos Dauda scored the goal.

Aduana Stars threw all men forward in search of the winning goal but the Phobians held on to pick up a point and most importantly maintain their top spot.
