Kotoko open defence against Olympics

Premiership kicks off today with defending champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko beginning their defence of the OneTouch premier league away to newly promoted Accra Great Olympics at the Kaneshie Sports Complex.

Also making a return to the elite division is Swedru All Blacks while Tema Youth make their premiership debut this season.

Four clubs have changed their home grounds.

Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Asante Kotoko and King Faisal have switched from their traditional home grounds due to on-going construction works for at the Ohene Djan stadium in Accra and the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi for the hosting of the African Cup of Nations.

Both Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics would be using the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex in Kaneshie with Asante Kotoko opting to play at the Konongo grounds whiles King Faisal goes for the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Match-day-I action continues in Berekum where Accra Hearts of Oak would be guest of Arsenals while Gamba All Blacks? return to the premiership begins with a home game against Liberty Professionals at the Swedru Park.

Heart of Lions would be roaring loud at home at the Kpando stadium when they welcome Power FC.

King Faisal, playing at their adopted Sunyani Coronation park would battle Sunyani-based Bofoakwa Tano while Real Sportive play as host of Real Tamale United at the Tema Park.

Before the battle of the real sides on Sunday, Tema Youth making their premiership bow would play Sekondi Hasaacas on Saturday at the Tema Park.

At the Obuasi Len Clay stadium, AshantiGold welcome Feyenoord.

After match-day-I, the league would go on a two-week break to make way for continental club assignments.

Real Tamale United serving a three-match home ban would return to their home grounds- Kaladan Park in Tamale for their match-day-XI game against Asante Kotoko on November 5.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko would square off with archrivals, Accra Hearts of Hearts at their adopted Konongo Park home grounds to end 120 matches involving sixteen teams in the first round on January 7, 2007.
