Smith to defend Unilever Golf trophy

J.P. Smith would on Saturday, June 14, defend the Unilever Golf Championship trophy he won last year when this year's competition tees off at the Achimota Golf Course.

According to Mr Samuel Leslie Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, about 120 golfers have so far registered for the one-day 18-hole stableford competition.

It is open to amateur and professional golfers from Achimota the host club, Tema and Celebrity as well as invited players of Unilever.

He said entry requirement for the Men's event is Handicap 18 while those of the Ladies is handicap 24.

The Professional's event would start on Friday, June 13 and ends on Saturday June 14.

Baba Akologo, John Dormon, Victor Brave-Mensah and Yao Daniels are expected to be in action.

Ten prizes would be given in the men's competition while five would go the Ladies
