Golf tournament in honour of Hon. Owusu-Adjapong held in Tema

The Tema Country Golf Club hosted the 2nd edition of the O.A Special Golf Tournament on Saturday February 14, 2015, in honour of Honourable Felix Owusu-Adjapong for his contribution to the Club for more than 25 years.

Honourable Felix Owusu-Adjapong is a former Member of Parliament, Majority Leader and former Energy Minister.

The tournament sponsored by internet service provider, Zipnet, had 61 amateur and professional golfers participating for trophies and cash prizes.

Mr Vincent Torgah won the top prize of GHS 650.00 for the professionals followed by Emmanuel Osei who had GHS 450.00 and the 3rd prize of GHS 450.00 also went to Victor Brave-Mensah.

Twenty trophies were won under the amateur categories for both men and women division. The winners of trophies include Honourable Owusu-Adjapong's wife, Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong, Zipnet Consultant, Anita Manwani among others.

The Captain of the Tema Country Golf Club, Mr Noel Hammond called on Ghanaians to accept golf and clear the perception in their minds that Golf is meant for the elite and old.

He further announced a two-year free membership for staff of sponsors, Zipnet for the support they gave the Club.

Hon. Owusu-Adjapong also expressed gratitude for the honour given him and thanked the players for participating. “I hope next year during the O.A. Special we will have more people participating," he added.

CEO of Zipnet, Mr Osei Owusu Korkor said his company will continue to sponsor the tournament and partner with the Club to encourage people to participate in the Sport.

Mr Osei Owusu Korkor elaborated on the successes of the company being the first to start wireless service in Ghana since its eleven years of operating.

He took the opportunity to launch a new product, Ziptel, which allows you to make international calls to any destination at the lowest call rates and also the first Google application in West Africa.

Participants, members of the club and the public were treated to a live band performance by the Beautiful Generation Band of the Tema Navy Band.
