Golfers battle for honours in Kumasi

The Royal Golf Club in Kumasi will on Saturday be bubbling with golf action as about 70 golfers will battle for top honours in the 2013 President’s Putter tournament.

Sponsored by the outgoing President of the Royal Golf Club Professor Plange Rhule, with support from his friends and loved ones, the tournament would be played in one day.

Captain of Royal Golf Club, Martin Poku, told Daily Guide that the golfers would cover 18 holes during the tournament, indicating that amateurs, professionals and seniors who are over 70 years would take part in it.

He said the Royal Golf Club would use the tournament to honour its outgoing President Prof. Plange Rhule, adding that sister golf clubs in the country have been invited to make the event grand.

Martin Opoku said giant trophies and other prizes donated by Prof. Plange Rhule would be presented to golfers who would excel in the tournament, which is expected to be competitive.
