Heritage Classic Golf tees off on Aug. 9

Tema, Aug. 3, GNA - The first Heritage Classic Wishbone Invitational Golf Championship would tee off at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday, August 9. The competition, which is an initiative of Mr Pierre Coussey, a member of the Celebrity Golf Club, is aimed at assisting to develop the Club and also raise funds for needy institutions.

Mr Coussey, a Patron of Wishbone Incorporated who announced these on Sunday, said that about 80 golfers are expected to participate in the competition, which would also serve as a memorial for Mr Justice Charles Edwin Henley Coussey, a son of Mr Coussey, who was a member of the committee that drafted the constitution of the Ghana Golf Association. He said the competition would be sponsored by Wishbone Incorporated in collaboration with other corporate bodies.

Mr Coussey said some of the golfers who are expected to take part in the one-day 18-Hole event include Prince Kofi Amoabeng, President of the Tafo Golf Club and the Chief Executive Officer of UT Financial Services and Kwasi Opoku, the Competition Secretary of the Celebrity Golf Club. Other competitors are Joe Ohemeng, Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club and Oswald Amuzu, winner of the 2007 Ghana Amateur Open Golf Championship. Tee-off is at 0600 hours.
