Golfers to vie for Holmes' Farewell trophy

Accra, July 29, GNA - The Andrew Holmes Farewell Open Golf championship will tee off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Friday, August 2.

Mr Kwabena Oteng Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club, who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said the one-day event, opened to amateur golfers was to honour Mr Andrew Holmes, Managing Director of Taysec Constructions Limited who is due to go on retirement after many years of service. Mr Holmes, a keen golfer and member of the Achimota Golf Club, is also a Trustee of the Club.

The Managing Director has through his initiative made Taysec contribute immensely to the development of the sport including the sustenance of the annual Taywood Bowl Championship. About 120 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association. Kwaku Tettedzi, winner of the Stanbic Bank Invitational, Robert Evans and Matthias Dorfe, all of the Achimota Golf Club are expected to participate in the event.
