Teye, Atiso win Cowbell National Caddies Competition

Philomena Teye and Kwashie Atiso clinched the female and male titles at last Friday's Cowbell National Caddies Competition held at the Achimota Golf Club with gross scores of 43 and 70 respectively.
The flagship event which thrusts caddies; the individuals who carry the bags and clubs of professional golfers into the media spotlight saw over 80 amateur golfers teeing-off on the pristine golf course designed by victorious 2014 Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley.
Philomena, an amateur golfer from the Asafo Adjei Golf Academy won the ladies title by beating 11 competitors over nine holes played in the scratch format of golf.
Francisca Akafo trailed 20-year-old Philomena with a gross of 46 while Hebertina Amezado returned a gross of 47 to clinch third place.
In the Men's contest, 26-year-old Atiso, a former caddy for celebrated golfer Emos Korblah finished the 18-hole contest two under par returning an impressive gross of 70.
Second place was claimed by another caddy from the Achimota Golf Club, Bernard Attiogbe who pipped Fiavor Justice on count-back after both finished with 73.
The overall winners of the competition, Philomena and Atiso were both presented with a Wilson Ultra BLK Complete Golf Set while the top ten golfers in both the men's and ladies events received trophies well as products and souvenirs from Cowbell.
Israel Nornyibey, the Brand Manager of Cowbell lauded all the caddies for their tremendous contributions to the development of professional golf in the country.
He said: "Given that the caddies did not practice on the course before the event, they have all really excelled.
"This is meant to be the only event where professionals will caddy for their caddy but sadly none of the professional golfers showed up."
