Samuel Azumah wins golf tournament

Wassa Damang (W/R) November 14, GNA-Samuel Azumah of the Damang Golf Club scored 42 net to win a one-day 18-hole golf tournament sponsored by the KEK Insurance Broker Limited at Wassa Damang in the Wassa West District. Other members of the Damang Golf Club captured the second, third and fourth positions in the men's division.

They are Anthony Oppong who placed second with 39 net, Richard Darwfout third with 32 net and Phildre Engelbremt fourth with 31 net.

In the ladies division, Ruth Shepherd and Georgina Heteraka, both from the Damang Golf Club, occupied the first and second positions with 37 net and 34 net respectively while Mary Kaningen of the Tarkwa Goldfields Ghana limited Golf Club placed third with 29 net.

The competition attracted more than 80 golfers from all parts of the country including Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, Deputy Western Regional Minister. Speaking during the presentation of prizes, Mr Kwesi Essel-Koomson, Managing Director of KEK Insurance Broker Limited, said the company would continue to assist in the development of sports in the country.

He said this forms part of the company's social programme and hoped its support for golf would promote the physical health of golfers.
